This runaway star is shown rushing away from a stellar nursery, traveling more than 248,000 mph. At that speed, you could get to the moon and back in two hours. (spacetelescope.org)
To celebrate the Hubble Space Telescope's 20th Birthday, NASA released this new image. "Pillar & Jets" shows a small portion of one of the largest known star-birth areas of the galaxy, the Carina Nebula. The Hubble telescope was launched April 24, 1990 aboard the space shuttle Discovery. (NASA, ESA, and M. Livio and the Hubble 20th Anniversary Team (STScI))
