Remember the Davidsons? Well, here is their elegant living room adjacent to the fabulous wet bar. Turquoise and chocolate brown, sparkling mirrors and crystal lamps ... simply stunning! The Davidson's worked with Ryland Woodard, a Richmond based Interior Designer, who did an amazing job of transforming this space into an elegant room, yet casual enough to "live" in!

Home Renovation: Small Closet to Wet Bar
Meet the Davidsons! Niki and Bradley Davidson, of Davidson Builders Inc., are established Class A contractors specializing in additions for indoor and outdoor living, and renovations ranging from whole house to individual kitchens and bathrooms. On Bright Bold and Beautiful, I will be sharing with you some of their DIY home projects, renovations and decorating ideas. Today, I want to show this fabulous wet bar they converted from a small closet in their own home.
Bradley states, "In the original build, this was simply a closet to fill the wasted space under the staircase. After some time, I realized the lack of use this closet was receiving and came up with the idea to create a small wet bar." The cabinet door front was built to resemble the inset cabinets used in the nearby kitchen and den built-ins. They found a remnant of Vetrazzo recycled glass and concrete counter top which is gorgeous and so unique. They chose a hand hammered stainless steel under mount bar sink from Elkay.
The shimmering green glass tiles are spectacular and the coordinating green glass door pulls {from Restoration Hardware} tie it all together! Bradley and Niki design everything first class. Even the glass shelves are floating on two stainless clips.
Thank you Bradley and Niki for sharing this amazing transformation with us!
Next up with the Davidsons is the updated Mud Room with hard wood seats,
so stay tuned!

My Style in One Picture
twice about it! As a watercolor artist, it is only appropriate to feature a photo of
"my style" in "my art studio".
As previously mentioned here, my desk is made up of twoVika Artur trestles and a nice glass beveled edge top. I love my Jules swivel chair as well. Featured on the wall is my original watercolor dress painting and the wall color is Spring Mint by Benjamin Moore. If you would like to order this dress painting in a 9" by 12" print, click here.

IKEA meets Pottery Barn
Here is a peek into the girls' rooms in the third floor renovation. They went with a vibrant and bright lime green color called Spring Meadow Green from Benjamin Moore paints. The twin beds are IKEA as well as the adorable bedside table. The colorful quilts and shams are Naomi from Pottery Barn Teen.
The IKEA Jules swivel chair is awesome.
Yes, they went with the same color which creates a nice flow throughout. This is the second bedroom with the IKEA double bed and the beautiful quilt and shams are Graphic Pop from Pottery Barn Teen.
I love this quiet spot for reading or studying.
Colorwheel : Spring Mint ~ and many thank yous!
All these photos would look great in my new studio...
Can you tell that this is my new favorite color?
A huge thank you to the following experts in their fields.

Art Studio / Home Office
I cannot tell you how happy I am that my new Art Studio is finished. Every morning the light pours in this bright and cheerful room and provides me with so much inspiration for the day! In the center of the room I created a custom island with wide shelves. I designed it specifically to store my watercolor paper which is 26" by 40". It is movable with casters on the bottom,
so I can place it anywhere in the room.
Remember this pegboard post? I created a large inspiration board to show my framed and unframed watercolors. I painted the pegboard the same Spring Mint color as the walls. Then I framed the pegboard with white trim for a finished look. This is the focal point of the room and the ultimate organizer.
The entire board measures 5 1/2 feet by 8 feet.
I use bull dog clips hanging on S hooks to display various works in progress.
Click here to see the wall before the renovation.
Over on the side of the room, I put in cabinets to store my supplies, with a dark teal/turquoise laminate top {which really looks like granite}.

In this post, I mentioned we were taking a trip to IKEA. My desk is made up of two Vika Artur trestles and a nice glass beveled edge top. I love my Jules swivel chair as well. Featured on the wall is my original watercolor dress painting.
Another IKEA purchase that holds and protects my prints is the Alex drawer unit on casters. On top I have my new Hp wireless scanner and copier which I love. I picked a beautiful light wood flooring. This cleans well {in case I spill some paint} and is functional with all the movable furniture in the room.
I am big on organization. The fabric bins on my desk come from
Momfetti and Target.
My best-selling "Summer Breeze" giclee on canvas brings color to the room. These are great to place in a stand on your favorite table, or hang on the wall.
Thank you for coming by!
Home Renovation: Bright Bathroom
We decided to go bright orange with fun mosaic tile accents in the full bath upstairs. We used brushed nickel Delta two handle faucets, and continued with the brushed nickel color for the cabinet knobs as well.
Framing around the mirror are the Anemone ~ Lux Sunshine Mix mosaic tiles from Morris Tile Distributors of Richmond. Aren't these cool?
On the floor, we used the same tiles in small diamond shapes scattered within the larger beige tiles. This adds an entirely new look to a simple plain tile floor!
{and more economical than you would think!}
Almost there...
We are almost finished with the renovation. You know the feeling when you move into a new house, and you want everything decorated that minute? You want the pictures hung, the furniture arranged just right, etc... I promise pictures are coming. I am trying to get things "just right". For now, my feet hurt so badly, I just need to fall into this lovely daybed...

Home Renovation: Paint colors
I was thrilled when I saw that Elle Decor picked Pale Blues as this Spring's most seductive shade. I chose a beautiful pale blue called Spring Mint by Benjamin Moore for my Art Studio. The painters are finishing up and the carpet comes next week. I promise I will have photos soon. For now, you can drool
over these gorgeous interiors.

Home Renovation: Blue Skies Ahead

I wanted to give you an update on our third floor renovation. The sheet rock has been hung, and boy does that stuff create a mess! It's so exciting to see the rooms coming along and I will be posting more photos as soon as the dust settles... Whew!

Home Renovation: Bathroom Tiles
Have you ever been tile shopping? I had the best time today looking around the gorgeous showroom of Morris Tile Distributors here in Richmond. I am looking for tile for the new bathroom on the third floor.

The blues and greens in the SenacaBlends collection are so beautiful and soothing. The colors remind me of the Caribbean waters.

I am amazed at all the different designs and patterns available to choose from. Aren't these fun?

Home Renovation: Siding and Framing
Mike and his team are hard at work putting the hardiplank siding on the exterior of the dormer windows. Due to its strength, beauty and durability, hardiplank siding enhances and protects homes in all kinds of weather conditions. Another popular characteristic of this siding is the fact that it retains paint much better than wood. In fact this type of siding rarely ever peels or chips when painted.
On the inside, the plans are coming together. See here for a description of the layout. Have you ever said, "I wish I could be a fly on the wall in that room?"... Well, here you can see through all of the rooms... the framing is up, and the sheet rock is coming next week! Some before shots here...
... and after shots here.
